Welcome, and thank you for visiting my website! And yes, that is my dog, Ryder, in the picture with me! Some Background: I am licensed to practice psychotherapy in the state of Florida, #SW8758, as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I attained a Master's Degree in Social Work from Florida Atlantic University (FAU). Also, I earned an Aging Certificate which shows a specialty area in working with elders. I have the certifications required by the state of Florida to practice hypnotherapy and sex therapy. I am currently adding hours and expertise to my sex-therapy certification to receive the more advanced certification with the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT). |

My professional expertise started by working at an agency in Palm Beach County. At this agency, I provided psychotherapeutic services for people who survived domestic violence, sexual abuse, and other childhood abuse and/or crime. I am now in private practice and treat clients with these and other problems. For the 2008-2009 school year, I was an adjunct professor at FAU. I taught 2 semesters of Social Work Research. I taught 1 course in Issues in Counseling Women and 1 course in Social Work Practice 1, Practice with Individuals. For the 2009 Fall semester, I taught Social Work Research. I serve on the Board of FAU's School of Social Work Alumni Society. I also serve on the board of South Florida Society for Trauma-Based Disorders. I am an active member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), and a member of AASECT, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the American Association of University Women. I serve on the AIDS Committee at FAU.
I have given workshops and presentations throughout the state. From 2001-2005, I worked at two hospices in Palm Beach County, one in bereavement and the other in crisis care. I created and led the Chronic Headache Support Group, in association with the National Headache Foundation, for a year. Also during this time, I taught yoga classes at various locations. I taught in the public school system for 14 years until 2001. I maintain certification to teach elementary education in Florida and have a gifted education endorsement. More information about my training: Hypnotherapy (50 hours) with Douglas Flemons, Ph.D., LMFT Mission Statement: To provide the highest quality psychotherapeutic interventions possible for a client's presenting problem. |
